For any kind of logging as well as your transcripts, you should use the embedded source timecode of the raw material. This code doesn’t change and is unique to each individual frame of footage. See enclosed image. Open the file in the Media Browser (the bottom left window). The image will become visible in the Source Window (top left). The timecode you’re looking for is located on the left below the image area.
If you open the special timecode window (in the menu bar: Window —> Timecode) you will see the correct timecode as long as the Source Window is active (as per the blue line that is shown around its border).
